VOICE CLIP—DEMETRI
Demetrius Latreau is a flamboyant musician and former member of the Fiendish Five who later becomes an ally of Sly Cooper and his gang. Demetrius combines showmanship with combat skills and plays a significant supporting role in Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves.
BEHIND THE SCENES INTERVIEW:
Interviewer: How did you get involved with the infamous Sly Cooper series?
David: I auditioned. They hired me. We recorded. Repeat.
Interviewer: You voiced a few different characters in the Sly Cooper universe like Rajan, Octavio, and LaFwee, but it’s Demitri Latreau that became the most popular one.
David: Seems so.
Interviewer: Where did Demitri come from?
David: Well, that was in the lines. The writers at Sucker Punch Productions came up with those. It was all there. Crazy stuff. Plus, the look helped. A French lizard in loungewear. It writes itself.
Interviewer: Exactly. It seems like when the voice directors left you alone to ad lib in those sessions, that’s when the good stuff came out.
David: Yes, the Sucker Punch team let me loose in those sessions. Didn’t alter the lines much, just played with the delivery. Most of my recording sessions were with Nate Fox, who let me go off in different directions. Plus, Demitri was in the music business…hence the singing.
Interviewer: Did you know that they took your voice lines and made a song out of it?
David: I stumbled on that.
Interviewer: Did you get paid for that?
David: I’m still waiting. (Smiles)
